Traveling
Preparing for Ironman Hawaii in England is not easy. The race in Hawaii is in October and this means that a large volume of training needs to be done in September. This is typically a pretty wet month (even wetter than all other months here!), but this year the weather conditions have been worse than the last 10 years that I have lived here. It makes training really difficult.
Floods interrupt training session
On my bike ride earlier in the week I wanted to ride a 60km loop but because of floods I could not go back the way I wanted and ended up rising an out and back course because some of the roads were simply under water.
The picture on the left is a road I wanted to use cominbg back into Birmingham (Bristol Road). You can see why I had to turn back!
Weather forecast
The weather forecast for the next few days is not much better and cycling will be limited to turbo sessions and running will just be very wet and muddy...
For the next few days the temperatures will reach a high of 20C (68F). The wind will be strong and will take the edge off the temperatures. There will be heavy rain on Friday and that rain may hang around for some time.
I can't wait to ride and run on dry roads with a blue sky and some sun... It looks like the preparation for conditions like the ones I will see in Hawaii in 2 weeks is far from ideal..
